Zoho Desk Pricing in 2026: Cheap Seats, and AI Behind the Top Plan
Shayan, Founder9 min read

Zoho Desk, the help desk in Zoho's suite, costs $7 to $40 per agent per month on annual billing, or $9 to $50 monthly. Three agents can use it free, with no time limit. Email ticketing starts on Express at $9; a chat widget on your site starts on Standard at $20; the AI agents that answer customers on their own are Enterprise features at $50. A two-person team handling 500 conversations a month pays $0 on Free if email is enough, $40 on Standard with chat, and $100 on Enterprise if it wants Zoho's AI answering.
That ladder is the thing to understand. Zoho's seats are the cheapest of any help desk on this site. Its AI is not metered per answer, but it only runs on the most expensive plan, so the price of AI on Zoho is the jump from $20 to $50 a seat.
The five plans
Zoho Desk prices by full agent. Light agents, who can read tickets and leave private notes but not reply, are $6 a month on Standard and Professional and come fifty to a workspace on Enterprise.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Agents | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Up to 3 | Email tickets, one support address, private knowledge base, macros |
| Express | $9 per agent | $7 per agent | Up to 5 | Two support addresses, social channels, workflows, happiness ratings |
| Standard | $20 per agent | $14 per agent | Unlimited | Public help center, chat widget and messaging channels, community, custom reports |
| Professional | $35 per agent | $23 per agent | Unlimited | Round robin, collision detection, Blueprint, ten departments, phone, multilingual help |
| Enterprise | $50 per agent | $40 per agent | Unlimited | Zia AI agents, customer-facing Answer Bot, skills routing, multibrand help center, 50 light agents |
Two rows decide what a small SaaS team pays. Free and Express are email-only, so the moment you want a chat bubble on your site you are on Standard. And the AI that talks to customers, Zoho's Support Specialist and Resolution Expert agents and the Answer Bot inside the widget, sits on Enterprise. Professional gets generative assistance for agents, drafting and summaries, not a bot that answers on its own.
The trial is 15 days with no card and drops to Free when it ends. Zoho's own pricing FAQ says Standard is capped at five users while its edition table gives that cap to Express and lists Standard as unlimited. The table is the one the product follows.
What else lands on the bill
AI, by the token. Zoho does not charge per resolution. Its agents run on hosted models with 30 million tokens a month included, then $1 per million; a higher-tier model gets 20 million then $3 per million. You can also bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key and pay that provider directly. Usage is prepaid into a wallet at $1 per 1,000 credits, which is the closest thing to a spend cap: it cannot bill past what you loaded. What a resolution costs in tokens is not published.
Light agents, $6 each. For the product manager who wants to read tickets and leave notes. Not available on Free or Express.
Departments, $7 each. Enterprise includes 50 and sells more. Professional has ten and no add-on.
WhatsApp. Since October 2026, service messages past 1,000 a month per number are charged at Meta's rates, and sending stops when the balance runs out.
Vendor support. Classic support is included. Premium is 20% of your subscription; Enterprise support is 25% and requires at least 25 licences.
Phone, SMS and the SalesIQ live chat product are separate services with their own bills. Zoho Analytics for deeper reporting is a separate subscription too.
Three bills
Monthly billing, every person a full agent, no light agents, no phone, no WhatsApp. The Enterprise column is what AI costs on Zoho: the seat, since the included tokens are likely to cover 150 to 1,500 AI answers a month and Zoho publishes no per-answer rate.
| Team | Email only (cheapest plan) | With chat (Standard) | Enterprise, with Zia agents |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 agents, 500 conversations | $0 | $40 | $100 |
| 5 agents, 2,000 conversations | $45 | $100 | $250 |
| 10 agents, 5,000 conversations | $200 | $200 | $500 |
On annual billing the rows are $0, $35 and $140 for email, $28, $70 and $140 on Standard, and $80, $200 and $400 on Enterprise.
Read the Enterprise column against Zendesk and Freshdesk. Zendesk's Suite Team is $55 a seat and then $2 for every AI resolution, so its ten-agent team with AI at 30% pays $3,590 where Zoho's pays $500. Freshdesk's Growth is $19 and sells AI in $49 packs of 100 sessions, so its ten-agent team pays $965. Zoho is the only one of the three where the AI line on the invoice does not grow with your customers.
The catch is that Zoho's agents only run from its US and India data centres, and the subprocessor list names OpenAI for them even when the hosted models are selected. An EU team that cares where ticket text goes should ask before switching them on.
Live chat, email and an AI agent, one flat price.
UserJot's support inbox and Juno come with every plan. No agent seats, no plan to upgrade to for AI.
The switching offer and startup credits
If you are on a Freshdesk contract, Zoho will run Desk free for the rest of it, up to six months, when you sign a yearly subscription. The same offer is advertised for Zendesk. The eligibility detail is not published; ask sales before you count on it.
Zoho's startup program is a one-time credit for new customers that covers any Zoho product, including Desk, and expires after 360 days. The published eligibility page mixes an India-specific scheme with a country list, and US eligibility and the credit amount are not stated on it. Nonprofits and schools get special pricing without a published rate.
Fine print that bites
- Subscriptions renew automatically. Notice to stop a renewal is seven days, which is shorter than most vendors, and a price change takes effect at the next cycle rather than mid-term.
- Refunds are better than the category norm: the first month of a monthly plan or the first 45 days of an annual one, after you have tried support. After that, an annual downgrade becomes credit toward future months, not cash.
- Free has no public knowledge base. If you drop from a paid plan to Free, plan on the help center going with it.
- Closing the account is not the same as downgrading. Deleted data is purged at Zoho's next six-month cleanup and from backups three months after that. Zoho may also close a free account after 120 days of inactivity.
- Trial data is described as preserved on the automatic drop to Free and as possibly lost in the general trial terms. Export before the 15 days end if it matters.
Is Zoho Desk worth it?
If your company already runs on Zoho CRM, Books or Zoho One, yes, and you probably do not need this post: Desk is included in the suite bundles, and the integrations between them are the reason reviewers on G2 keep listing "Zoho suite" as a strength. The product is a full help desk at a price nobody else matches, with SLAs, Blueprint workflows and a community forum from the middle tiers.
The complaints are the mirror image. G2's 8,000 reviews log 297 mentions of a learning curve and 183 of limited customization, Capterra's recent reviews talk about delayed notifications, and a TrustRadius reviewer's "Set up is super easy" sits next to a Capterra reviewer's "Sometimes mail integration fails." It is Zoho: a lot of product, configured through a lot of screens.
For a SaaS team of two to ten that is not already in the Zoho suite, the honest question is which plan you would actually be on. Free is real and email-only. Chat puts you on Standard at $20. An AI agent that answers customers puts you on Enterprise at $50, which is Zendesk money without Zendesk's meter.
The same three teams on UserJot
UserJot is built for that team. Live chat on your site and support email land in one inbox. Juno, our AI agent, answers from your docs and the sites you point her at, searches your feedback board before she replies, writes in the customer's language, and hands the thread to a person the moment a question needs one. Everyone on the team can work the inbox, because there are no agent seats, and Juno is on every plan, not the top one.
The price is flat: $0, $29 or $59 a month for the whole workspace. A support tool should not charge a plan upgrade to let the AI answer.
| Team | Zoho Desk Enterprise, with Zia agents | UserJot |
|---|---|---|
| 2 agents, 500 conversations | $100 | $0 |
| 5 agents, 2,000 conversations | $250 | $29 |
| 10 agents, 5,000 conversations | $500 | $29 |
Free covers three teammates. Starter at $29 covers up to 100, which is every other team on this page, and adds a custom domain, private boards, guest posting and the API. Pro at $59 adds single sign-on, identity masking and white-labelling. None of the tiers charge for conversations or for Juno.
The inbox is one part of a product that also runs your public feedback board, roadmap and changelog. A feature request that arrives in a support chat gets filed, voted on and announced from the same place, and the customer who asked hears about it when it ships. Zoho's edge is the suite: if your CRM, invoicing and projects are already there, Desk belongs with them. For a SaaS team whose support happens in the app and over email, UserJot does the job at a price that stays put.
Questions people ask
How much does Zoho Desk cost?
$7 per agent per month for Express on annual billing, $14 for Standard, $23 for Professional and $40 for Enterprise. Monthly billing is $9, $20, $35 and $50. Three agents can use the Free plan indefinitely.
Is Zoho Desk free?
Yes, for up to three agents, with email tickets, one support address and a private knowledge base. There is no public help center or chat widget on Free; those start on Standard.
Does Zoho Desk charge per AI resolution?
No. Zia agents are billed by model tokens, with 30 million a month included on the hosted models and $1 per million after that, and they are only available on Enterprise. There is no per-conversation or per-resolution fee.
What is the difference between Zoho Desk and Zoho SalesIQ?
Desk is the help desk: tickets, email, the chat widget on Standard and up, the help center and the AI agents. SalesIQ is Zoho's separate live chat and visitor tracking product. Desk includes a limited SalesIQ integration on Enterprise; the full SalesIQ feature set is its own subscription.
Is Zoho Desk included in Zoho One?
Yes. Zoho One and CRM Plus bundle Desk, and Zoho's API documentation treats those bundles at the Enterprise tier.
How do I cancel Zoho Desk?
The primary contact downgrades or cancels from the Zoho Store under Subscription, or emails Zoho's payments team. Renewal notice is seven days. Downgrading keeps your tickets and contacts; closing the account deletes them.
Can I get a refund?
Within the first month of a monthly plan or the first 45 days of an annual plan, if support could not fix the problem. After that, unused annual time becomes credit, not a refund.
