The Front alternative with no seats, chat and email together.

UserJot is a Front alternative with support email and live chat in one inbox on every plan, and an AI agent that answers from your docs, next to a public feedback board, roadmap, and changelog. Flat pricing, no seats, and a free plan that does not end.

The UserJot inbox: a customer asks about a mobile app, and Juno answers and resolves it.

Every day, the teams behind Tally, OpenPanel, Drizzle, SuperWhisper, Scite, Throne, Nuelink, Ghostbase, and hundreds of others talk with their customers in UserJot.

Top Front alternatives

Front bills by the seat, holds its Starter plan to one channel type, and meters Autopilot by what it did to each conversation. If you would rather pay a flat price with chat and email together, these are the alternatives to Front worth a look. If shared SMS and WhatsApp, Office 365 sync, time goals, and the Jira, Salesforce, and HubSpot integrations are what you use Front for, UserJot has none of them. Zendesk has the channels and the SLAs, and Missive and Hiver keep the shared inbox shape.

  1. Support email and live chat in one inbox on every plan, and Juno, an AI operator who answers from your docs on chat and email and files feature requests on your public board. Roadmap and changelog included, and an MCP server on every plan, including Free. Flat pricing, no seats, free to start.

Best for: SaaS teams whose support happens in a support address and a chat widget, and who want the feature requests in those conversations to land somewhere.

  2. Missive

A shared inbox at $14 per user a month billed yearly or $18 monthly, with Starter capped at 5 users and without rules, integrations, or AI, which start on Productive at $24. AI runs on credits or your own API key. No free plan; a 30-day trial. Website chat runs through a Twilio account you bring.

Best for: Teams leaving Front for the same shared inbox shape at a lower seat price.

  3. A shared inbox, live chat, and a docs site, at $25 per user a month billed yearly, with a free plan for 5 users and 100 helped contacts a month. Its AI agent, Envoy, is $0.75 per resolution after a three-month free trial.

Best for: Teams that want email and chat on one $25 seat, and a free plan to start on.

  4. Hiver

A shared inbox for Gmail and Outlook, at $25 per user a month billed yearly or $35 monthly, two seats minimum, with live chat and its AI agents included from the Growth plan. No free plan; a 7-day trial.

Best for: Teams that want to stay inside Gmail and pay one seat price with the AI in it.

  5. Tickets from $19 an agent a month billed yearly; chat, voice, and a help center from Suite Team at $55, up to $115 on Suite Professional. 5 or 10 AI resolutions per agent included, then $2 each, or $1.50 on a commitment.

Best for: Teams that want SLAs, skills routing, phone, and WhatsApp, and will pay per agent for them.

  6. A Messenger-first help desk with chat, email, and a help center on one seat, at $39 a seat a month or $29 billed yearly, plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. No free plan; a 14-day trial. Its pricing page showed $19 a seat billed yearly for new customers the day we checked.

Best for: Teams that want chat, email, and the help center on one plan from day one, and will pay per seat and per AI outcome.

  7. Chatwoot

Open source and self-hostable, with live chat and email, a free cloud plan for 2 agents and 500 conversations a month, and paid plans from $19 an agent. The Startups plan is free for open-source projects. You run the server and the backups if you self-host.

Best for: Teams whose support data has to stay on their own servers.

Where Front falls short.

Front, from FrontApp, Inc. in San Francisco, founded in 2013, is a shared inbox for email, Front Chat, SMS, WhatsApp, and social channels, with comments and shared drafts on each thread, rules, round-robin assignment, a knowledge base, Slack, Jira, Salesforce, and HubSpot integrations, an API, an MCP server, and Autopilot, its AI agent. It also has a Starter plan that holds one channel type, an AI billed by what it did to each conversation, a 12-month term that renews itself, and an export that goes through support, and no place for the feature request.

Email and chat need Professional

Starter is $25 a seat billed yearly for email, chat, or SMS, one of them; email and chat together are Professional, $65 a seat billed yearly or $85 monthly, for every seat

Front's pricing FAQ says the Starter plan "only supports a single channel type of Email, chat (Resolve), or SMS." A SaaS team with a support address and a chat widget in its app is on Professional, $65 a seat a month billed yearly or $85 monthly, and every seat in the workspace moves with it. For two people that is $170 a month on monthly billing instead of $70; for five it is $425, and for ten, $850, before Autopilot or the $20 Copilot seat. Starter also stops at 10 seats and 10 rules. A three-star Trustpilot review from September 2025, a month after the plans changed, says "you can no longer have combined phone/email/SMS support without paying significantly more."

What UserJot does instead.

UserJot has what a small SaaS team uses Front for: support email in a shared inbox with assignment, internal notes, and snooze, an AI agent, Juno, who answers from your docs and hands the thread to a person when one is needed, and live chat in your app on the same plan as the email. It adds the public feedback board, roadmap, and changelog that the requests in those conversations end up on.

Everyone on your team works the inbox, and Conversations is free on every plan while it is in beta. Free has three team members, and the paid plans have no seat charge. Paid plans start at $29 a month with a 14-day trial, and you're live in minutes.

Chat in your app, email in the same inbox.

With Conversations on, the widget that shows your board, roadmap, and changelog gets a Messages page, and customers write to you from inside your product. Forward your support address and the email lands in the same inbox, on the same plan. Your reply goes out from the forwarding address. A customer who leaves the chat gets your answer by email when you have their address, and their reply comes back into the thread.

A conversation can be assigned to one teammate and has a state: needs team, AI handling, or waiting on customer. Internal notes, snooze, reminders, search, typing indicators, blocked senders, and an away reply for when the whole team is off are in the inbox. Incoming messages are translated into your language, and you can translate a reply before it goes out.

The UserJot inbox: a customer asks about a mobile app, and Juno finds the request on the board, adds the customer's vote, and resolves the conversation.

Juno answers first, and hands off when a person is needed.

Juno is the AI operator built into UserJot. On each customer message, chat or email, she decides to answer, hand off, or stay silent. She answers from your docs and the sites you point her at, in the customer's language, at any hour. When the customer asks for a person, when she isn't confident, or when the question is outside what she knows, she hands the thread to your team and can leave a private note on why. Once a teammate replies, she stays out of that thread until someone hands it back.

Juno is on every plan, including Free. Turn her off for the workspace and new conversations go straight to the team.

The UserJot widget open on the right side of a customer's web app.
Demo of the UserJot widget Messages page: Juno hands a billing question to a human teammate, who resolves it in the same conversation.
Sara Meyer
Team support
We were charged twice this month, can you help?
4:07 PM
Sorry about that! Refunds need a teammate, so I'm bringing one in now.
4:07 PM
Juno handed this conversation to the team
Hi, Sara here. Just refunded the duplicate charge, you'll see it back in a few business days.
4:09 PM

The feature request leaves the conversation.

When a customer describes a feature in chat, Juno searches your public board, shows them the matching request, and once they confirm, adds their vote or files a new one in their name. The request is on the board with the customer's name on it, and the board is where your team plans from.

When you mark the request Planned or In Progress, it moves to that column on the public roadmap. Every status change emails everyone who posted, voted, or commented. When you mark it Completed, the changelog post you write links back to it, and Juno drafts the post from the requests you completed since the last one when you ask.

UserJot public roadmap with vote counts on each request.

The whole web app on iPhone and Android, with push notifications when something needs you.

  2. Features

    Export reports to CSV

Finance needs the monthly numbers in a spreadsheet. A one-click export from any report would save us an afternoon every month.

    SRSofia Reyes
  3. Integrations

    Zapier integration

We’d love to send new tasks to the rest of our tools without writing a script. A trigger for new tasks would cover most of it.

    TBTom Becker
  4. Features

    Custom fields on tasks

We track budget and client on every task. A couple of custom fields would replace the spreadsheet we keep next to Acme.

    MLMia Laurent
  5. Features

    Two-factor sign-in

Our security review asks for it every year. An authenticator app option would be enough for us.

We set up the same onboarding checklist for every new client. Saving it once as a template would save us an hour each time.

Seeing tasks on a timeline would make it much easier to plan around deadlines and spot overlaps.

Switching from Front to UserJot.

There is no conversation importer, and you don't need one to start: forward the support address and the next email lands in UserJot. Front's export is for your records, and your knowledge base becomes what Juno answers from.

If something doesn't come across, email support@userjot.com and we'll finish the migration with you.

  1. Forward your support address.

Turn on Conversations, copy the forwarding address, and add a forwarding rule in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. No DNS changes, and replies go out from the forwarding address.

    Email forwarding →

  2. Add the widget and teach Juno.

Install the v3 widget with a script tag. With Conversations on, it gets a Messages page. Point Juno at your docs and at the Front knowledge base while it is still up, so she answers from day one.

    Teach Juno →

  3. Export your Front data.

Contacts come out as CSV from Front itself. Conversations come through Front support: ask for the export, Front acknowledges within 72 hours, and it arrives as one CSV per shared inbox, with EML files for attachments on request; individual inboxes, templates, and tags are not in it. Ask for the knowledge base export separately, or let Juno crawl the public articles. Feature requests you tracked by tag go onto the board with the CSV import once you have them in a spreadsheet.

    Import from CSV →

  4. Then cancel Front, 30 days before the term ends.

Monthly billing is cancelled in Settings, Billing, under Upcoming plan, and takes effect at renewal. An annual contract needs notice 30 days before the end. Take the export first. The account is read-only for 30 days after the term ends, then deleted.
