Import from Canny
UserJot includes a direct import flow for Canny. Instead of exporting data by hand, you connect your Canny account, review the mappings, and then start the import from the dashboard.
Import from Canny
-
Open Settings in your workspace, then go to Data & Import.
-
In the Import section, click Import from Canny.
-
Enter your Canny API token and continue.
-
Review how your Canny boards map to boards in UserJot, then review how your Canny statuses map into UserJot statuses.
-
Confirm the import and select Import Submissions to start it.
What the importer asks you to map
The Canny import flow focuses on two decisions: board mapping and status mappings.
Board mapping tells UserJot where imported feedback should land. Status mapping makes sure feedback from Canny keeps a sensible workflow once it arrives in UserJot.
If Canny does not return statuses in the import flow, UserJot falls back to a default status mapping and you can adjust things later inside the workspace.
What gets imported
UserJot imports posts, votes, non-empty comments, and changelog entries. Images attached to posts and comments are copied as part of the import.
The importer also creates or matches a member for each post author, comment author, and voter. This keeps authorship and votes connected to the right people. If the same person appears more than once, UserJot matches them by their external user ID or email address to avoid duplicates.
Canny users who have not authored a post, written a non-empty comment, or voted on an imported post are not imported. The import does not copy Canny login credentials or grant anyone an admin role in UserJot.
Before you start
Make sure you have the right API token from your Canny account before opening the importer. Once connected, UserJot will populate the available boards and statuses for review.
The import runs asynchronously after you confirm it, so you do not need to stay on the page while it finishes.
