The Hotjar alternative with a feedback board and a flat price.

UserJot replaces the feedback side of Hotjar: a public feedback board, roadmap, changelog, and live chat in one product, not heatmaps or session replay. Flat pricing, unlimited users, free to start.

The UserJot inbox: a customer asks about a mobile app, and Juno answers and resolves it.

Every day, the teams behind Tally, OpenPanel, Drizzle, SuperWhisper, Scite, Throne, Nuelink, Ghostbase, and hundreds of others talk with their customers in UserJot.

At a glance.

Top Hotjar alternatives

Hotjar no longer takes new accounts, and the feedback its widget and surveys collect goes one way. If heatmaps and session replay are why you're looking, no feedback board replaces them. If the feedback is the piece you need, these are the alternatives to Hotjar worth a look.

  1. Public feedback board, roadmap, changelog, and live chat in one product, at its own URL and inside your app, with Juno, an AI operator who answers customers and drafts your changelog, and an MCP server for your own agents. Flat pricing, unlimited users, free plan.

Best for: SaaS teams that used Hotjar's feedback widget and surveys and want the people who answer to hear back, in one modern tool.

  2. A feedback board, roadmap, and changelog, plus NPS and CSAT surveys, all in one widget. Metered on announcement views, popup views, emails, and AI credits.

Best for: Teams that want Hotjar-style surveys in the same widget as a feedback board.

  3. Visual bug reports with 3-minute recordings and console logs, plus surveys and a feedback board on its $259 plan.

Best for: Product teams whose feedback is mostly bugs with a screenshot attached and who will pay for the upper plan.

  4. Visual bug reports with screenshots and recordings, plus a feature request portal sold as a paid add-on. Flat pricing per workspace.

Best for: Agencies and QA teams collecting visual feedback on client sites.

  5. Feedback board, roadmap, and changelog, with Jira, Linear, Intercom, and Zendesk. Priced by tracked users.

Best for: Teams that need Jira on the board and don't mind paying by the voter.

  6. Open source and self-hostable, with posting and voting, a roadmap on the hosted Pro plan, and no changelog. You run the server and the backups.

Best for: Teams whose feedback data has to stay on their own servers.

Where Hotjar falls short.

Hotjar has shown teams what visitors do since 2014, with heatmaps, session recordings, surveys, and a feedback widget on one tracking tag. It also has a signup page that sends you somewhere else, a price that depends on how many people answer, feedback that goes one way, and no way to reply to the person who left it.

New accounts closed; hotjar.com redirects to Contentsquare

Hotjar stopped taking new accounts. Its homepage and pricing page redirect to Contentsquare, which announced the acquisition on September 1, 2021 and merged the company into the group on July 1, 2025. An account that receives a migration notice has 30 days to opt out before it moves to Contentsquare Growth. Google's People Also Ask for “Hotjar alternatives”, “Hotjar pricing”, and “Hotjar vs” all open with “What happened to Hotjar?”

What UserJot does instead.

UserJot keeps the feedback Hotjar's widget collects and puts it on a public board with votes, a roadmap, and a changelog. It adds live chat and support email in one inbox, with Juno, an AI operator who answers first, and an MCP server for your own agents.

Every plan has unlimited users, including Free, so the bill doesn't move when more people answer. Paid plans start at $29 a month with a 14-day trial, and you're live in minutes.

Feedback your customers can see and vote on.

Your board lives at its own URL, where anyone can browse what others asked for, post a request, and vote on the board. Duplicate detection runs as people type, so five versions of the same request don't pile up.

When you mark a request Planned or In Progress, it moves to that column on the public roadmap, votes attached. Every status change emails everyone who posted, voted, or commented. When you mark one Completed, the same email goes out, and the changelog post you link to it shows under the request.

UserJot public roadmap with vote counts on each request.

    Export reports to CSV

Finance needs the monthly numbers in a spreadsheet. A one-click export from any report would save us an afternoon every month.

    SRSofia Reyes
  3. Integrations

    Zapier integration

We’d love to send new tasks to the rest of our tools without writing a script. A trigger for new tasks would cover most of it.

  4. Features

    Custom fields on tasks

We track budget and client on every task. A couple of custom fields would replace the spreadsheet we keep next to Acme.

    MLMia Laurent
  5. Features

    Two-factor sign-in

Our security review asks for it every year. An authenticator app option would be enough for us.

Screenshots, chat, and email in one inbox.

The widget brings the board into your app, with Home, Feedback, Roadmap, Updates, and Notifications in one panel, plus Messages when Conversations is on. A customer describing a problem presses Screenshot, the widget captures the page, and they mark it up with arrows, boxes, text, and redaction before it attaches to the request or the chat message. Identify a user once and everything they send is attributed to them.

Messages is live chat. Customers write to you from inside your product, and your team answers from the dashboard where it already triages requests. Forward your support address and email lands in the same inbox, with no DNS changes. When a customer describes a feature in chat, Juno finds the matching request on your board and shows it to them. Once they confirm, she files it or adds their vote. Conversations is in beta and free on every plan while it is.

The UserJot inbox: a customer asks about a mobile app, and Juno finds the request on the board, adds the customer's vote, and resolves the conversation.

One AI, across the whole product.

Juno is the AI operator built into UserJot. In the inbox, she answers new conversations first, in the customer's language, from your docs and the sites you point her at, and hands the thread to your team when a person is needed. The inbox translates incoming messages into your language, and you can translate your reply before it goes out.

In the changelog editor, Juno reads the requests you completed since the last post and writes the draft, with the title, tags, and linked requests filled in. She never publishes.

The UserJot widget open on the right side of a customer's web app.
Demo of the UserJot widget Messages page: Juno hands a billing question to a human teammate, who resolves it in the same conversation.

We were charged twice this month, can you help?

Sorry about that! Refunds need a teammate, so I'm bringing one in now.

Hi, Sara here. Just refunded the duplicate charge, you'll see it back in a few business days.

An MCP server your agents can use today.

Your agent can read requests, file and vote on them, move them along the roadmap, draft changelog posts, and answer conversations. Ask your coding agent what customers have asked for in the area you're working on, or have it mark the request shipped and draft the changelog entry when the work merges.

It comes with the API on Starter and Professional. Contentsquare's MCP server reads analytics and cannot write.

Hotjar facts checked against Contentsquare's public site, help center, and contract documents on . Switching from Hotjar to UserJot.

There is no board to move; Contentsquare documents none. The widget takes over the feedback button's job the day you install it, and old survey responses come across as CSV if you want them on the board.

If something doesn't come across, email support@userjot.com and we'll finish the migration with you.

  1. Export your responses.

In Contentsquare, export each survey's responses as CSV. On the free plan responses are kept for one month, so do this first.
  2. Import the ones that are requests.

Upload the CSV. AI maps the response text, email, and date to UserJot's fields; check the mapping, confirm, done. Skip this if the responses were ratings rather than asks.

    Import from CSV →

  3. Put the widget where the feedback button was.

Add the widget to your app. Customers screenshot the page, mark it up, and file it as a request or a chat message. The board sits on your own domain, like feedback.yourcompany.com, on Starter and up.

    Custom domain →

  4. Then cancel or downgrade Contentsquare.

From your profile, cancel the subscription or select Free at least 5 days before a monthly renewal or 30 before an annual one. The account stays until you delete it.
