Publish updates

Updates in UserJot are published through the changelog. Use them to explain what changed, give users context, and close the loop on completed work.

Publish an update

  1. Open Changelog in the dashboard.
  2. Click New Entry to create a new update.
  3. Add a clear title and write the body of the update.
  4. Set the publish date, then publish it when it is ready.

Start from a completed request

If a request is already marked Completed, you can also start from the request itself.

In the request action bar, click Draft Changelog to jump straight into a new draft in the changelog editor. The draft starts empty, so write the update there the same way you would from New Entry.

What you can add to an update

Inside the editor, you can set the title, slug, content, publish date, cover image, authors, and changelog tags.

Keep the update focused on what changed and why it matters. The best entries are short, specific, and easy to scan.

Link the feedback behind the work

When requests are linked to an update, they show on the update page under Built from your feedback. That helps users see which requests led to the change. Each viewer only sees the requests they could see on your boards: requests on private boards, submissions still pending moderation, and requests that were merged into another are left out.

Linking requests to a changelog entry is currently available through the UserJot API rather than the editor. If you do not use the API, updates publish normally without linked requests.

Drafts, published entries, and scheduled entries

New entries start as drafts. They stay internal until you publish them.

If an entry is published with a future publish date, it becomes scheduled and will go live at that time. If it is published with a current publish date, it appears immediately in Updates.
