Import Data from CSV to UserJot
Importing data from a CSV file is a convenient way to transfer your existing feedback into UserJot. We’ll guide you through the entire process, step by step, so you can easily bring your data into our platform.
Step 1: Access the Import Feature
- Log in to your UserJot dashboard.
- From the sidebar, go to the Settings section.
- Click on the Data Import tab.
- Select Import from CSV to start the process.
Step 2: Upload Your CSV File
- Provide your CSV file by either:
- Dragging and dropping it into the designated area, or
- Clicking to select the file from your computer.
- Once uploaded, UserJot’s AI will analyze the file and attempt to match its columns to our schema.
Step 3: Map Submission Columns
- After uploading, review the AI’s suggested mappings for the submission columns:
- Post ID: A unique identifier for each submission.
- Title: The title of the submission.
- Images: Any image data associated with the submission.
- Post Body: The main content or description of the submission.
- Votes: The number of votes the submission has received.
- Adjust any mappings if the AI’s suggestions don’t align with your data.
Step 4: Map Author Columns
- Next, review the mappings for the author columns:
- Author ID: A unique identifier for each author.
- Name: The author’s name.
- Email: The author’s email address.
- Make any necessary changes to ensure the author data is correctly mapped.
Step 5: Map Submission Details
- Map the submission details by specifying which columns in your CSV correspond to:
- Board Name: The name of the feedback board.
- Feedback Status: The status of the submission (e.g., “Open,” “Closed”).
- Created At: The date the submission was created.
- Review and adjust the AI’s suggestions as needed.
Step 6: Map Statuses and Feedback Boards
- Map your statuses: Review your CSV’s status values (e.g., “In Progress,” “Done”) and map them to UserJot’s status options (e.g., “Under Review,” “Completed”).
- Map your feedback boards: Match each board name from your CSV to the corresponding feedback board in UserJot.
- Ensure all statuses and boards are aligned with UserJot’s structure.
Step 7: Review Summary and Start Import
- Once all mappings are complete, you’ll see a summary that includes:
- The number of submissions being imported.
- The number of authors included.
- An estimated time for the import to finish.
- Click Import Submissions to begin the process.
- UserJot will take care of the rest, and you’ll be notified when the import is done.
Tips for Success
- Prepare your CSV: Make sure your file includes all required columns (e.g., Post ID, Title, Votes, etc.) and is well-formatted for smoother AI mapping.
- Review carefully: The AI does its best to guess mappings, but your input ensures accuracy.
- Be patient: Larger datasets may take a little longer to import, but you can use UserJot while it processes in the background.
That’s it! With these steps, your CSV data will be successfully imported into UserJot. If you need help, reach out to our support team at shayan@userjot.com.
