When Tax is Included in Price

Step 1: Calculate the discount amount

  • Final Price = Original Price - Discount Amount
  • Savings = Discount Amount

Example:

  • Original Price: $10 (tax included)

When Tax is NOT Included in Price

Step 1: Calculate the discount amount

  • Discount Amount = Original Price × (Percentage Off / 100)

Step 2: Calculate the discounted price

  • Tax Amount = Discounted Price × (Sales Tax / 100)
