Top Canny alternatives

Canny bills by the voter. If you would rather pay a flat price, these are the alternatives to Canny worth a look.

  1. Public feedback board, roadmap, changelog, and live chat in one product, on your own domain from $29 and inside your app, with Juno, an AI operator who answers customers and drafts your changelog, and an MCP server for your own agents. Flat pricing, unlimited users, and a built-in Canny import.

Best for: SaaS teams that want Canny's loop and a support inbox in one modern tool, at a price that doesn't move when customers show up.

  2. Nolt

The simplest board on this list: voting, comments, a roadmap, and a changelog, and not much else.

Best for: Teams that found Canny more product than they needed and want a clean board set up in an hour.

  3. Enterprise feedback management sold by quote, with Salesforce and Zendesk connectors and onboarding measured in weeks.

Best for: Large product orgs that buy through procurement and run feedback through Salesforce.

  4. A feedback board, roadmap, and changelog, plus NPS and CSAT surveys, all in one widget. Metered on announcement views, popup views, emails, and AI credits.

Best for: Teams that want surveys in the same widget as feedback.

  5. Open source and self-hostable, with posting and voting, a roadmap on the hosted Pro plan, and no changelog. You run the server and the backups.

Best for: Teams whose feedback data has to stay on their own servers.

  6. Boards, a roadmap, and a changelog on flat monthly tiers. Less to configure than Canny and less to grow into.

Best for: Small teams that have outgrown a spreadsheet and want something simpler than Canny.

  7. A small, founder-run board, roadmap, and changelog with unusually responsive support and a low flat price.

Best for: Bootstrapped teams that want a founder answering their support email.

Where Canny falls short.

Canny has sold feedback boards since 2017, with a free plan, a public roadmap, a changelog, and a long integration list. It also has a price that rises every time a customer votes, a board customers have to sign in to use, small-team features priced for a big one, and no way to talk to the customer behind the vote.

The bill grows with participation

Pro: $79 a month at 100 tracked users, $529 at 1,000

Canny bills by tracked users: anyone who has posted, voted, or commented on your board, with no monthly reset. Pro starts at $79 a month billed yearly for 100 of them and is $529 at 1,000. Cross a tier and Canny moves you to the next one and prorates the difference. Set a spend limit instead and it stops tracking new people's feedback. Until May 2025 Canny had unlimited end users. A Capterra reviewer in December 2025 objected to paying for people on free trials, and another in January 2026 said they disliked the new structure. The full ladder is in our Canny pricing guide.

What UserJot does instead.

UserJot has what Canny has: a public board on your own domain, a roadmap with votes, a changelog, and a widget that puts all three inside your app. It adds live chat and support email in one inbox, Juno, an AI operator who answers customers first and drafts your changelog, and an MCP server for your own agents. The board, the widget, the dashboard, and the emails share one logo, accent color, and theme, and dark mode follows the reader's system.

Every plan has unlimited users, including Free, so a request with a thousand votes costs the same as one with ten. Paid plans start at $29 a month with a 14-day trial, and you're live in minutes.

A board people can use without signing in.

On Starter and up, anyone can post, vote, and comment on the board without creating an account, and any board can be made private: a customer sees only their own requests, and your team sees all of them.

When you mark a request Planned or In Progress, it moves to that column on the public roadmap, votes attached. Every status change emails everyone who posted, voted, or commented. When you mark one Completed, everyone who voted gets an email, and the changelog post you write links back to it.

    Export reports to CSV

Finance needs the monthly numbers in a spreadsheet. A one-click export from any report would save us an afternoon every month.

    Zapier integration

We’d love to send new tasks to the rest of our tools without writing a script. A trigger for new tasks would cover most of it.

    Custom fields on tasks

We track budget and client on every task. A couple of custom fields would replace the spreadsheet we keep next to Acme.

    Two-factor sign-in

Our security review asks for it every year. An authenticator app option would be enough for us.

The whole board, inside your app too.

Your board lives at its own URL, where anyone can browse, post, and vote. The widget brings the same board into your app: Home, Feedback, Roadmap, Updates, Notifications once a user is identified, and, with Conversations on, Messages, in one panel. Identify a user once and their posts, votes, and messages in the widget are attributed to them; on Starter and up, the same identity follows them onto the board.

Messages is live chat. Customers write to you from inside your product, and your team answers from the dashboard where it already triages requests. Forward your support address and email lands in the same inbox, with no DNS changes. When a customer describes a feature in chat, Juno finds the matching request on your board and shows it to them. Once they confirm, she files it or adds their vote. Conversations is in beta and free on every plan while it is.

The UserJot inbox: a customer asks about a mobile app, and Juno finds the request on the board, adds the customer's vote, and resolves the conversation.

One AI, across the whole product.

Juno is the AI operator built into UserJot. In the inbox, she answers new conversations first, in the customer's language, from your docs and the sites you point her at, and hands the thread to your team when a person is needed. The inbox translates incoming messages into your language, and you can translate your reply before it goes out.

In the changelog editor, Juno reads the requests you completed since the last post and writes the draft, with the title, tags, and linked requests filled in. She never publishes. The board itself checks for duplicates as people type, and five versions of the same request don't pile up.

The UserJot widget open on the right side of a customer's web app.
Demo of the UserJot widget Messages page: Juno hands a billing question to a human teammate, who resolves it in the same conversation.

We were charged twice this month, can you help?
4:07 PM
Sorry about that! Refunds need a teammate, so I'm bringing one in now.
4:07 PM
Juno handed this conversation to the team
Hi, Sara here. Just refunded the duplicate charge, you'll see it back in a few business days.

An MCP server your agents can use today.

Your agent can read requests, file and vote on them, move them along the roadmap, draft changelog posts, and answer conversations. Ask your coding agent what customers have asked for in the area you're working on, or have it mark the request shipped and draft the changelog entry when the work merges.

It comes with the API on Starter and Professional. Canny's MCP server is on Pro with Ideas turned on.

Switching from Canny to UserJot.

The import connects to Canny's API and brings posts, votes, comments, images, and changelog entries, with authors matched by email. You map boards and statuses, confirm, and it runs in the background.

If something doesn't come across, email support@userjot.com and we'll finish the migration with you.

  1. Create an API key in Canny.

Canny's API is on every plan, including Free. The key is the only thing UserJot needs from Canny.
  2. Import into UserJot.

In Settings, open Data & Import and choose Import from Canny. Paste the key, match each Canny board and status to a UserJot one, and confirm.

    Import from Canny →

  3. Put the board where customers already are.

Add the widget to your app, and on Starter or above, put the board on your own domain, like feedback.yourcompany.com.

    Custom domain →

  4. Then downgrade or cancel Canny.

Both happen from Canny's billing settings. Paid access runs to the end of the cycle, and the workspace stays until you delete it, so you can check back against the original.
